Ely Woods Mr Freestyle Surf & Skate & West Coast Youth Services
As a Tunarama Quest Entrant for 2009 I will be raising funds to support West Coast Youth Services & the Youth Advisory Committee. With my help, West Coast Youth Services are planning to use the funds I raise to aid in starting a Youth Café here in Port Lincoln early next year.
I have lived in Port Lincoln the great majority of my life. I was born her in 1990 and liv
ed here up until 2001 when my family had a brief stint overseas in the United States for two and a half years. In 2006 my family bought Freestyle Surf & Skate, and I worked there part time while at high school, working in the shop and doing frequent buying trips to Adelaide for clothes.
I graduated from high school last year in November and started working full time at Freestyle. I had plans to go to University to study commerce after taking a year off at the end of high school, but by this February I changed my mind.
The week after my 18th birthday I went to do a weeks work experience as a Commercial Diver on the Tuna farms, and was offered a job helping out on the surface. I am currently saving money so I can go to Burra to gain my part 1 & 2 Commercial Dive Ticket in September. The course lasts for 2 months and at the end of it I will be fully qualified to work as an Onshore Diver her in Port Lincoln and overseas.
Next year I plan to travel a lot, I would like to go back to America to visit some friends and hopefully backpack around Europe for a few months. This year as a quest entrant, I am looking forward to having a lot of fun organising as many fundraising events as possible, getting to know many new people
