Miss Keith Daniels Homes & Womens and Childrents Hospital & Make a Wish Foundation
My name is Gabby Chesher I am 18 years old and my Sponsor is Keith Daniels Homes where I am currently employed. I started working at Keith Daniels Homes in March 2008, it is a large growing company and the people are great to work with. The company is widely involved with the community and its events therefore I will have much support throughout the year.
I grew up on a farm in Wanilla just 30 Kilometres from Port Lincoln with my parents, two sister’s and a
brother. During my school years I attended Port Lincoln Junior Primary, Primary and High School. Throughout those years I was involved in many sporting activities and teams, drama productions and community activities. I moved to Port Lincoln in 2000 with my mum, brother and sister. One of the highlights of my life was becoming an aunty. In 1998 my older sister had a baby girl, Ebony Lou and a baby boy, Danan in the year 2002. This was wonderful because I am the youngest child in my family and I had never experienced having beautiful little people around.
Moving to high school was a huge change, from being the top of school to being the bottom. I have great memories of High school, the teachers were your mates and the student opportunities widened. I graduated year 12 in 2007 and I intend to go to university in the upcoming years to study tourism.
In my leisure time I play netball, go camping with family and friends and taking my little niece and nephew on adventures. I enjoy being outside and experiencing new things. I spend a lot of time at my Dads farm (where I grew up) helping with maintaining the land and stock. Coffin Bay is my second home, where we have a family shack on Douglas Street. This is where I spend most of my weekends, I love the National Park, fishing, boating and swimming.
My chosen charities are Make-A-Wish Foundation and Women’s and Children’s Hospital. I chose these charities because they both help to make a difference to the lives of children with life threatening illnesses.
My major goals for the 2009 Tunarama quest will be to learn more about the Port Lincoln area, to gain confidence in public speaking and being greatly involved with the community and it’s people. I am mostly looking forward to fundraising for the worthy charities I have chosen and to put a smile on the faces of the children in need.
I Wish all the Entrants Good Luck for the 2009 Quest!
