Thursday Highlights

5:30pm – Tunarama Official Opening

All welcome to the opening of the 2018 Port Lincoln Community Bank Tunarama Festival!

Held in the Spencer Gulf King Prawn’s Eyre Square, the Official Opening features Welcome To Country and performances from local and South Australian artists, plus AUS Foods Skydiving demonstration

Saturday Highlights

7:00am – 10:00am City of Port Lincoln Citizens Breakfast

The City of Port Lincoln and 765-5CC host the annual Australia Day Breakfast at the Tunarama Festival. Be served a hearty breakfast by Councillors as prepared by Dragons Abreast Port Lincoln volunteers. This free breakfast includes entertainment by the Ethnic Cowboys, Port Lincoln City Band, Port Lincoln Singers and Sing Australia.

10:00am Australia Day Celebration Ceremony

Join us in celebrating this tradition of welcoming new citizens and honoring local citizens for their achievements this past year. Includes Flag Raising Ceremony presentations of the Australia Day Citizen Award, Australia Day Young Citizen Award and The Community Event of the Year Award.

Port Lincoln Community Bank Street Procession

One of the highlights of the Festival and an event not to miss – The Port Lincoln community go to great lengths decorating themselves and their floats to showcase the many local business and community groups that flourish here. It is always colourful and fun, and often very professional as entrants vie for best float. This year will include some floats from  community arts, sporting clubs and local business groups. Streets are closed between 11.30 and 1.30, so find that special spot, settle down and enjoy the entertainment; and kids: watch out for lollies and water guns! Parade starts at Mortlock Tce at 12noon reaches the Civic Centre at 1.00pm, and winds up at the Port Lincoln Primary School at 1:00pm

Tuna Toss Finals

One of the highlights of the Festival and an event not to miss  – the World Championship Tuna Toss finds competitors traveling from around the globe to see who can throw these 10Kg fish the farthest. With big cash rewards and a unique trophy, this is one item for anyone’s bucket list. Held in the Tuna Toss arena. Entries are free but strictly limited places so get your registrations in early at the registration booth on the foreshore.

Qantaslink Fireworks

Port Lincoln comes alive as festival goers hit the beach to watch the incredible Qantaslink Fireworks display. The sky  near the town jetty becomes a canvas for the fantastic fireworks display. Simply spectacular and explosive fun for all ages!
