Abbey Schlink

10th September 2017

As you may or may not know my name is Abbey Schlink. I am 16 years old so that makes me the youngest Tunarama quest entrant in history!

I grew up in a small county town called Cowell. Many of my childhood memories consist of being out at my grandparent’s beautiful farm called Glenville. I have BIG family that is scatter all over Australia and I am very lucky with how supportive they are. I have lived in port Lincoln for 5 years now and have met some wonderful people and have had some amazing opportunities to do wonderful things within this town. currently iam studying year 11 at Flo, cert 2 in hair and beauty at tafe and work at the clothing store called jay jays. My hobbies include motorbike riding, surfing, shopping, socializing with my mates and more. My ambition in life is to be happy and care for others.

I am here to show people what the younger generation is capable of.  I am very proud and lucky to be sponsored by the amazing team at Eyre travel! They are such talented team to work with and I’m lucky to have them by my side throughout this journey.

I am also very lucky to have these amazing girls by myside, we have made some great memories and bonds and I am very excited to make some amazing friendships with you beautiful girls.

The charity I am raisings funds for is riding free of domestic violence. In 2007 Ivan Phillips beautiful step daughter Tash was brutally murdered as a result of sustained domestic violence attacks.

Tash left behind a beautiful young son and a grieving family. After 2 years of courts proceedings the offender was sentenced to 30 years. But not long after Ivan lost his wife who was Tashes mother to cancer.

Since then Ivan has fought on vowing to keep Tash and Di’s memory alive and raise awareness for the impact domestic violence has on families. He then completed a 15,000-km ride around Australia to raise awareness for his charity he has also became a white ribbon ambassador.

This story touches my heart being a past victim of domestic violence and this has opened my eyes up to the affects and the impacts of domestic violence can have on friends and family.

I have many fundraising events that are currently in the planning To help raise funds for my charity.

I believe it’s not about the amount we raise but it’s about the opportunity to be involved and support this wonderful cause.

I’m excited to see what the future brings.

Thank you
