Alicia Shillabeer

My name Alicia Shillabeer I am 19 years old and I was born and bred in Streaky Bay.

I moved to Port Lincoln to broaden my horizons and I am currently working at Coles Supermarket, where I have recently been promoted to a supervisor. I really enjoy customer service and the face to face interaction with the public.

My weekends consist of visiting family and going out with friends. I also enjoy playing mixed volleyball on Thursday nights and playing netball.

My chosen charity is the day options moving on program run by LEPSH. This program is designed to teach their clients day to day living skills in order for them to reach their full potential of independence. I am hoping to raise enough money so that the moving on program will be able to purchase some new furniture or upgrade some of their facilities to accommodate their needs, as their current facilities are extremely inadequate. I am hoping that my small contribution not only assists them financially but also gains community awareness of the plight of this much needed program.

My future is not really planned as such, but I would really love to travel Australia and definitely travel the world.

Entering the Tunarama quest was not something I could ever see myself doing, as I am a very shy person when it comes to being in the public eye. So I have seen the quest as a way to overcome this. I also saw this as a great opportunity to meet new friends because I am not from Port Lincoln. I have never really challenged myself throughout my life and I know that entering the festival quest will be a challenge and a great experience.
