From Benita’s Tunarama Ambassador Quest Sashing Speech

Good afternoon Ladies, Gentlemen, and Distinguished Guests. What an honour to be here today, standing with these amazing ladies! We are all on a journey together, and although each of us is from different backgrounds, with different stories to tell, we all have a common theme, “A growth in our appreciation of, and commitment to, our community and those in it!” I look forward to getting to know each of you entrants better, as we share this journey together. Thank you, lvanka, for doing my hair, and for those who have helped me scrub up! Thank you, Fran, for taking such wonderful photos of us all, and a big thank you to the Tunarama Committee, in getting us all started. Those chocolates taste amazing, Noel!

Having worked in the Tourism lndustry for 9 years, meeting people has been my passion. So, l’m excited to meet new people, and be involved in some fun activities, (fun being my middle name), while raising money for a good cause. I don’t consider myself to be funny, but in not taking myself too seriously, I do have a sense of humour. Life is what you make it, and if you can laugh about yourself when you make a mistake, you can learn from it! What a way to go, having fun, enjoying life and gaining personal growth!
I would like to thank my sponsor, Unity Hill, they have been like family to me, and l’m already indebted to your great support network. l’m anticipating many crazy, frustrating and fun filled days ahead, as we make these fundraising ideas come to life.

Thank you also to my charity, Novita; it has been a heart-warming and rich experience coming alongside you, and to see the challenges, and the wonderful achievements you have made. lt is truly an honour to be working with Novita to help them reach just some of their goals.

Local businesses have been truly overwhelming in their support. l’ve been blown away, and it has been a real eye-opener to their eagerness to supply materials, time, expertise, or whatever is needed to get behind Tunarama. So a big thank-you!

As they say “Behind every successful woman, there is an exhausted man!” I thank you Mitchell, though this is not for you, you have set me free to be all I┬ácan be, and supported and encouraged me. Thank you to my family for believing in and backing me. Great job on those sausage sizzles, Greg. O final thanks also, to the many willing friends, who have put the back work in to make things happen.

One thought to take home in closing; Don’t take life too seriously; Always find time to laugh, because laughter not only adds years to your life, but adds more life to your years
