Damien Burner

My name is Damien Burner, I’m 21 years old and was born and raised here in Port Lincoln. I absolutely love living here and find that we are extremely lucky to have such a beautiful tight-nit community.

I am currently working permanent part-time at Drakes Supermarkets training to be an Assistant department manager, whilst also holding a second job at Mortlock Service Station. With this diversity, along with the Tunarama Quest I am creating a happy medium and look forward to the journey ahead.

In my personal time I enjoy watching AFL footy supporting my favourite team the Power, cleaning and detailing my pride and joy my V8 Holden Commodore and also spending time with family and friends.

In 2014 I completed my schooling at Port Lincoln High School, graduating with the City of Port Lincoln Award of Merit for all my leadership and fundraising contributions. During 2014 I raised $2,500 for a local boy who suffered from a rare chromosome deletion 22q13. There are only 600 children in the world who suffer from this rare disease. So when Jonah and his mum Bec approached the High school’s SRC, I instantly knew I could do more to help. Organising a couple of sausage sizzles at school, then creating donation tins and distributing them to local businesses in the community, I managed to help purchase important equipment to assist him with his treatment.

Being raised to believe in loving, caring, supporting and giving back to others inspired me to do my best to help others in need. I thank my family for allowing me to see the benefits of giving back, helping others in need and how important key people skills are.

I am entering the Quest as Mr Port Lincoln Travel and Cruise and would really like to thank Shane, Jo and team for not only sponsoring me but also supporting and believing in me. I hope to fundraise as much funds as possible for my chosen charity, Community House Port Lincoln Incorporated. I am currently enjoying the journey and I have made new wonderful friends who I look forward to sharing this journey into the near future.

I chose this wonderful charity as they help so many members of our community through employment, computer lessons and access to support networks/services just to name a few. I absolutely love the main goal of bringing a sense of belonging to everyone who steps in through the front door.

Seeing Community House providing these crucially important services just drives me to continue to give back and help people in need. Community House is a non-profit organisation that relies on funding, so to fundraise money for them to continue to provide to our community is an honour.

To promote all of my events and fundraisers I have set up a Facebook and Instagram page, so please take a look and like or follow my pages to keep up to date on up and coming fundraisers and events. I hope that the community can get behind my events and fundraisers as we can all assist this amazing charity continue to assist our beautiful city.

Thank You
