Krystal Hebberman

My name is Krystal Hebberman and with support from my sponsor Adventure Bay Charters I am proud to be a 2016 Tunarama Ambassador Quest entrant.

Since the beginning of the 2016 Quest the amount of support and encouragement I have received not only from my friends and family, but from the general public, has been overwhelming and I am truly grateful.

I would like to start off by saying a very big thank you to everyone who has come along to support Anthony, Kelli and myself.

I would also like to thank everyone who has made tonight possible, firstly Hairworx hair and Beauty for going above and beyond to make me look perfect for tonight and Margret who without her, I would not have been able to wear this stunning dress tonight.

As Miss Adventure Bay Charters I would also like to say a very special thank you to Matt and Tracey Waller, as well as the team, for giving me the opportunity represent their business and supporting me along the way.

Growing up in the outback in Broken Hill, and attending school at Burke Ward Public School, my family and I visited Streaky Bay every year and absolutely fell in love with this amazing part of the world.  I have now lived in Port Lincoln for the past 10 years.

Since moving to Port Lincoln I have been blessed to spend all my teenage years growing up exploring some of the most breathtaking beaches and coastlines that we are lucky enough to have here on the Eyre Peninsula. Since a very young age I have always had an obsession with the ocean, especially Great White Sharks. As a child I dreamed that one day I would get the chance to work with them and for the past 3 years my dreams have come true- I have been working at Adventure Bay Charters as crew for the Swim with the Great White Sharks and Swim with the Sea Lion Charters.

Since working at ABC I have worked my way up to a Coxswain Grade 1 and am hoping to become a skipper in the years to come. Working with Great White Sharks and Australian Sea Lions isn’t a job for me, it’s my passion. Every day on the ocean is new and exciting which makes me love my job even more!

When I’m not looking at sharks or playing with the puppies of the sea, I love nothing more than to go camping, four wheel driving with a great bunch of friends, swimming and photographing the beautiful coastline and beaches we are so lucky to have here in Port Lincoln.

I chose to enter the Tunarama Ambassador Quest to gain self-confidence and do my part to support a fantastic charity, as well as my local community. I believe that the Quest will help me grow as a person and become a better version of myself, it will also make me more community minded, which will be very rewarding.

Throughout the Quest I chose to assist Novita Childrens Services.

Novita work to assist young children that live their everyday lives with a disability and provide much needed support for their families. Growing up knowing people who have a disability as well as having family who work with the disabled, Novita was a charity which really stood out to me. After doing some research on the work that they have done it was a very easy decision. Hearing the stories about the young children that Novita have helped was touching and made me very passionate about raising funds for this fantastic charity to make sure the kids get as much help as possible.

I look forward to the journey ahead, that I am pleased to be able to share with Adventure Bay Charters, Novita Childrens Services, the local and surrounding community, and of course the other 2 entrants –  Anthony, Kelli.
