Kylie Jericho

My name is Kylie Jericho and this year I am representing the City Of Port Lincoln to raise funds for Global Care Port Lincoln.

I have spent my whole life on the Eyre Peninsula, I was born in Cummins and relocated to Port Lincoln in 1999 with my family.  In 2007 after completing my secondary education at St Josephs School I moved to Cleve, during this time I worked at the District Council of Cleve and married a local farmer, Andrew Jericho.  In July 2009 we relocated back to Port Lincoln to undertake my current position at the City of Port Lincoln as Corporate Services Officer. Local Government has broadened my perspective and understanding of the economic, social and environmental support that is required for successful, growing communities.

My Family has had a huge role in shaping who I am today.  My family life has been a little less than normal, growing up with an older brother with Asperger’s syndrome, and a younger sister with severe disabilities both physically and mentally.  My parents have also opened our home up to foster children for the past 8 years.  At times having foster brothers and sisters has been a challenge, however my parents who are also ministers of Christian Outreach Centre have been an amazing example of what it is to love and care for people.  In recent years I have begun to appreciate that the greatest lives lived are not consumed on oneself but invested into others.
This is part of my motivation for entering the Tunarama Quest and raising funds for Global Care – as Global Care exemplifies these qualities and is an organisation that I personally have been involved with for the past 10 years.
Providing voluntary services to the community such as:
•    Facilitation of soup kitchens, food hamper packages
•    Park days for the underprivileged
•    Rehabilitation of bushfire & drought victims and;
•    Restoration of women through Cafe 31

Global Care reaches the heart of many families in Port Lincoln and throughout Eyre Peninsula and therefore is a worthy cause to support.
I would like to thank my Sponsor the City of Port Lincoln and my Committee for supporting me as I undertake this journey of personal growth, community involvement and charity support.
I see Tunarama furthering my life skills and active involvement in the community. My involvement in Tunarama will be something I will remember forever.
