Lisa Marie Toonen

My name is Lisa Marie Toonen. I was born in Ipswich, Queensland in 1988 as the youngest of six children to Theo and Monika Toonen.  I have an older sister and four older brothers. An Aunty to seven whom I adore very much!  My family eventually settled in South Australia two years after I was born. I went to St Mary Magdalene’s Primary School and Thomas More College, completing my education at these two schools until year eleven.

When I turned eighteen I moved to Port Lincoln on my own in search of my independence, something I longed for.   It has been, in November, four years since I moved away from the family home in Adelaide. I work office hours, Monday to Friday at Kennedy Transport and work after hours and occasionally on weekends at Del Giorno’s Café Restaurant.   I enjoy both jobs as they have taught me different skills which I highly benefit from.

After starting thirteen years ago, for North East Hockey Club, I still continue to play hockey but now I play for Flinders Hockey Club, a club which is fun orientated and very friendly.  2010 saw me take on a whole new role, being coach to the Men’s B grade team.

I chose to enter the Quest this year as I wanted to be more involved in the community and support a worthy cause.  My organization of choice is Kaleidoscope (an Autism Support Group), supporting local families with children of all ages who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
