Venita Ellis

My name is Venita Ellis, also known as Neats, and with the support from my sponsor Eyre Travel, I am very excited to be a part of the 2020 Tunarama Ambassador Quest.

I have received overwhelming support and encouragement from all over the Eyre Peninsula which I am very grateful for.

As Miss Eyre Travel I would like to say a big thank you to Geoff and Kathy Nottle, who are the owners of Eyre Travel for allowing me to represent their business and for their generous support.

I was born in Port Lincoln and raised in this beautiful town with my Mum, Dad and my older brother Adrian I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to grow up on the Eyre Peninsula where we have such beautiful surroundings.

My schooling took place here in Port Lincoln where I completed and passed year 12 Soon after completing school I relocated to Adelaide to study Interior decoration and design whilst working in numerous hospitality venues at night to help pay my way After my studies I moved back to Port Lincoln and decided to follow my heart in the caring industry where I studied Aged Care and disabilities I have been involved in many exciting events and sports over the years, I have helped coach Junior Netball teams, been a valued member of the BMX club for many years, even competing in the Australian titles in 1996. I have been involved in running an Australis self made girl workshop and have performed in drama voice film and music productions travelling with the Carclew youth arts company I have attended networking seminars and health beauty and well-being expos throughout Adelaide and Melbourne.

Both the opportunities to travel, and moving to Adelaide to further my study, were experiences that have helped shape who I am today; however my desire has always been to return to the Eyre Peninsula.

Nothing beats the amazing coastlines, incredible sunrises and sunsets, the embracing communities, and of course, the ‘West Coast Wave’ as you pass a car on the highway!

Through the 2020 Tunarama Ambassador Quest I have chosen to assist and fundraise for our local RSL From growing up in such a tight knit family I was close to my great uncle Herb and my Papa Brian who both fought in world war ll. Without the contribution from these incredible men we would not have the privileges we have today in our amazing country as majority of you all here would relate to.

I want to support our local RSL not only for our community and our honoured veterans but the RSL is essential for our past and present generations.

The RSL President Peter is in the process of establishing a brand new kitchen and a new museum for the community to visit the special air looms that we have.

My fundraising will help the RSL establish these new and exciting developments

Tunarama holds a rich history of fundraising for our community, and our community also boasts a rich history of generosity.

I am proud to be a part of this community, as well as an entrant in the 2020 Tunarama Ambassador Quest to ensure the tradition continues.

With the invaluable support from Eyre Travel, and wonderful people near and far, I look forward to sharing my journey with Geoff and Kathy, everyone involved in the RSL, all of you here today, the wider community and the other 6 entrants-Winnie, Lauren, Chloe, Zoe & Bel. I wish you all the best on your journey’s also. Thank you for being here today and supporting us and supporting Tunarama
